Topic: Functioning with an Azure Serverless Framework
In this presentation, Matt will discuss what Serverless truly is and what a few different cloud platforms offer for Serverless. After that introduction, he will do a deeper dive into the various frameworks and platforms that Azure provides. Finally, he will discuss what a migration from a monolithic application to an event-driven application could look like and show a few demos of Azure Serverless apps.

Matt Will has been working as a professional Software Engineer for around 20 years. After earning a Computer Engineering degree from Iowa State, he started his journey with ITI/Fiserv working on Commercial Internet banking applications. After a 9 year tenure with Fiserv, he felt the calling to dive into the startup world and do something different and he moved over to Nebraska Global. His first stop at Nebraska Global was working on Beehive and really starting his venture into cloud computing with AWS. Next up at Nebraska Global was being one of the founding members of the Don’t Panic Labs! consulting team. Over a span of 6 years, Matt got to work on a wide variety of projects that worked on many different platforms including in-house hosting, AWS, Azure, and Google Firebase. In 2019, Matt heard the calling of Spreetail, and wanting to stretch his skills, he leaped at the opportunity. Matt is currently a Principal Software Engineer and Center of Excellence Lead at Spreetail working on driving the adoption of more event-driven systems and practices and embracing Cloud Platforms as a Service.
